Lahore: Different cities of Pakistan are facing severe cold, with the temperature in Skardu reaching minus 13 degrees Celsius. Snowfall is ongoing in Skardu, making it the country’s coldest region.
Due to heavy snowfall in the upper areas of Astore, land routes have been cut off. According to the Meteorological Department, cold and dry weather is expected in most parts of the country today, with particularly severe cold expected in mountainous areas. Fog and smog are predicted to persist in the plains of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and central Sindh.
In the last 24 hours, cold and dry weather prevailed in most parts of the country, while rain and snowfall occurred in northeastern Punjab, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Kashmir. Fog and smog continued in the plains of Punjab and upper Sindh.
After Skardu, Leh was the second coldest area in Pakistan, where the temperature was recorded at minus 12 degrees Celsius. Gupis recorded minus 10, Gilgit minus 8, and Astore minus 6 degrees Celsius. In other areas, the temperature in Quetta, Ziarat, Hunza, and Kalam reached minus 4 degrees Celsius.
