A new spell of rain and snowfall is expected to begin today across the country. This weather system will affect most parts of the country for seven days, with a risk of landslides in mountainous areas.
According to the Meteorological Department, a western weather system will enter the country starting in February, bringing rain, thunderstorms, and snowfall to northern and mountainous regions. Hailstorms are also expected in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, and Islamabad.
In Gilgit-Baltistan, heavy rainfall and snowfall are expected from February 25 to March 2. In Kashmir, heavy rainfall and snowfall are predicted from February 25 to March 2, while in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, this spell will begin from February 24 to March 1.
The Meteorological Department stated that in Punjab and Islamabad, rain with thunderstorms is expected from February 25 to March 1, with snowfall in Murree and the Galyat region. In Balochistan, rain and snowfall are expected from February 24 to 26, while light rain is anticipated in Sindh from February 25 to 26.
Rain and snowfall may lead to road closures and slippery conditions in Murree, Galyat, Naran, Kaghan, and other mountainous areas. There is also a risk of flash flooding in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Kashmir, as well as landslides in hilly regions.
