Bollywood superstars Shah Rukh Khan, Ajay Devgn, and Tiger Shroff have been issued notices to appear in court over a misleading advertisement.
According to Indian media reports, a complaint has been filed in Kota, Rajasthan, against the actors for endorsing a pan-masala brand named Elaichi. Following the complaint, legal action has been initiated against the three actors.
The misleading advertisement for the pan masala brand and its tagline, “Bolo Zubaan Kesari”, has drawn significant attention. This prompted a man named Indra Mohan Singh Hani to file a complaint against the actors.
In the complaint, he alleged that the advertisement promotes false information and specifically targets young people.
The complainant stated that Shah Rukh Khan, Ajay Devgn, and Tiger Shroff are role models for many young individuals, and by endorsing a product that does not contain kesar (saffron), they are misleading the youth.
The application further stated that the company has not provided any evidence to support its claims. Additionally, the warning on the packaging is allegedly written in such a small font that it is nearly impossible to read, raising concerns about transparency.
The complainant has demanded an immediate ban on the advertisement and strict penalties against the actors and the company.
According to media reports, the Kota Consumer Dispute Redressal Commission has acted on the complaint and issued notices to Shah Rukh Khan, Ajay Devgn, Tiger Shroff, and the manufacturers of Vimal Pan Masala, directing them to appear in court.
