A notable rise in credit card purchases and payments was recorded across the country during April 2025, as per the latest data released by the State Bank of Pakistan. Total transactions through credit cards reached Rs150 billion during the month.
This marks a 29.3% increase compared to April 2024, when Rs116 billion worth of transactions were carried out via credit cards. The report highlights this as a sign of growing consumer confidence on an annual basis.
A month-on-month rise was also observed. In March 2025, consumers spent Rs141 billion through credit cards, which grew to Rs150 billion in April, reflecting a 6.6% increase.
Experts believe this growth points to improved financial activity among consumers and a rising trend in electronic payments. The consistent increase in credit card usage not only indicates the expansion of modern financial systems but also reflects consumers’ growing trust in digital transactions.
