Former Foreign Secretary Aizaz Chaudhry has said that Islamabad is pleased and New Delhi is concerned over Pakistan-U.S. relations.
Speaking in a news program on a private TV channel, Aizaz Chaudhry stated that the meeting between President Trump and Field Marshal Asim Munir is a positive development and good news for Pakistan.
He emphasized that Pakistan should maintain good relations with the United States and added that Pakistan does not wish to be caught in the U.S.-China rivalry. He said Pakistan has a strong and proven relationship with China.
He further noted that maintaining ties with the United States is also essential for regional peace. The U.S. played an important role in de-escalating tensions between Pakistan and India, he added. According to Chaudhry, Pakistan-U.S. ties have made Islamabad happy while making Delhi uneasy.
The former Foreign Secretary also said that Iran would be pleased with the improvement in Pakistan-U.S. relations, as Iran knows Pakistan will speak in its favor when dealing with the United States.
