A statement has been released regarding the meeting between former U.S. President Donald Trump and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir, during which Field Marshal Munir extended an official invitation from the Government of Pakistan for Trump to visit the country. The date of the visit will be decided through mutual consultation.
According to ISPR, the high-level meeting between President Donald Trump and Field Marshal Syed Asim Munir took place in the Oval Office of the White House. The meeting began with a luncheon hosted by President Trump in the Cabinet Room in honor of the Army Chief. Present on the U.S. side were Secretary of State Marco Rubio and U.S. Special Envoy for the Middle East Steve Whitkoff, while Pakistan’s National Security Advisor accompanied Field Marshal Munir.
The Army Chief expressed gratitude to President Trump on behalf of Pakistan and its people for his positive and productive role in the ceasefire between Pakistan and India. He also praised Trump’s leadership abilities in understanding and addressing the many challenges faced by the global community. President Trump appreciated the ongoing counterterrorism cooperation between Pakistan and the United States and acknowledged Pakistan’s efforts in promoting peace in the region. Both sides agreed to continue counterterrorism cooperation.
President Trump expressed interest in establishing a mutually beneficial trade agreement with Pakistan. There was agreement to expand cooperation in sectors including economic and trade ties, mining and minerals, artificial intelligence, energy, cryptocurrency, and others. During the meeting, detailed discussions were also held on the Iran-Israel conflict, and Trump praised Field Marshal Asim Munir’s decisive and visionary leadership. Field Marshal Munir formally invited Trump to visit Pakistan, with the visit’s timing to be finalized through joint consultation.
According to ISPR, although the meeting was initially scheduled for one hour, discussions extended beyond two hours. The meeting is expected to strengthen the long-standing partnership between Pakistan and the United States, grounded in shared goals of peace, stability, and prosperity.
