Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, in his message to the nation on the commencement of the new Hijri year 1447 AH, prayed to Allah Almighty that the new Islamic year brings blessings for all.
In his message, the Prime Minister stated that the Islamic year begins with the month of Muharram, which, according to Islamic teachings, is one of the four sacred and honorable months. The holy month of Muharram reminds us of the unparalleled sacrifices of our forefathers, who demonstrated patience, truthfulness, and upheld high values in the path of righteousness. Particularly, the event of Karbala and the martyrdom of Hazrat Imam Hussain (RA) stand as a symbol of the triumph of Islam, the elevation of Islamic principles, and a sacrifice that continues to inspire generations of those who stand for truth and justice.
He emphasized that in today’s era, when the Muslim Ummah faces numerous challenges, these historical events offer a message that serves as guiding principles for social harmony, inter-sectarian tolerance, and humanitarian service. We must incorporate these far-reaching teachings into our personal and collective lives, illuminating the path of love, brotherhood, and awareness.
The Prime Minister said, “Let us pledge at the start of this new Hijri year to emerge as a civilized, dignified, and conscious nation by preserving the traditions of our ancestors. We shall build a society that reflects the welfare of humanity.”
He prayed that the coming year brings peace and stability not only for Pakistan but for the entire world. He also prayed for an end to the ongoing oppression against innocent Muslims in Kashmir and Palestine, and for the complete resolution of regional tensions.
Furthermore, the Prime Minister prayed to Allah Almighty to bless the nation with unity, mutual respect, and brotherhood. He asked for strength for the state and national institutions to become more effective and true servants of the people, for the youth to excel in knowledge, skills, and character, and for Pakistan to emerge as a dignified, peaceful, and developed state among the nations of the world. Ameen.
