PM Shehbaz Pays Tribute on Police Martyrs Day, Strongly Condemns Al-Aqsa Desecration

Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, in his message on Police Martyrs Day, paid tribute to the brave officers and personnel of Pakistan’s police forces. He stated that this day is dedicated to remembering the sacrifices that have ensured peace across the country.

The Prime Minister said that police officers perform their duties in every corner of the country, away from their families and regardless of harsh weather conditions, all in the service of maintaining law and order. He saluted the martyrs as well as their families, who sacrificed their futures for the nation.

He added that over 8,000 police officers and personnel have laid down their lives in the war against terrorism. As a frontline defensive force, police officers sacrificed their lives and, in doing so, saved millions of children from orphanhood. Recently, five personnel from the Elite Force embraced martyrdom during an operation against dacoits in Rahim Yar Khan.

He emphasized that these martyrs and thousands of others are the pride of the nation. Pakistan’s police have proven their professional excellence globally. The medals and awards won at the World Police Summit 2025 are a testament to their capabilities.

The Prime Minister welcomed the use of modern technology in policing, stating that it would enhance public safety. He also highlighted the formation of counter-terrorism forces in all four provinces, joint operations with the Pakistan Armed Forces and Rangers, and the police’s vital role during natural disasters and emergencies.

He noted that in recent years, the police have foiled numerous terrorist plans through hundreds of successful operations, defeating hostile efforts to destabilize Pakistan from Gwadar’s shores to the peaks of Gilgit-Baltistan. Every police officer is a source of pride for the entire nation.

Separately, PM Shehbaz Sharif strongly condemned the recent desecration of Al-Aqsa Mosque. He stated that Pakistan condemns the attack by Israeli ministers and settler groups under the protection of the occupying forces.

He said the violation of one of Islam’s holiest sites has hurt the sentiments of over a billion Muslims worldwide and constitutes a serious breach of international law and the collective conscience of humanity.

The Prime Minister is scheduled to visit Gilgit-Baltistan today, where he will meet with the Governor and Chief Minister. He will also chair a meeting to review the situation caused by recent rains and flooding, and distribute relief cheques to affected families during a ceremony at the CM Secretariat.
