It has been revealed that Bollywood superstar Salman Khan, who will be hosting India’s popular reality show Bigg Boss Season 19, is earning a three-month hosting fee that is hundreds of times greater than the annual salary of the Indian Prime Minister.
The new season of Bigg Boss is set to air this month, and a recently released teaser featuring Salman Khan in a Nehru jacket, which hints at a political theme, has further fueled excitement among fans.
According to Indian media reports, although Salman Khan has reduced his fee for Bigg Boss 19, even this lower amount is still many times higher than the Prime Minister’s yearly income. Reports claim that Salman Khan is charging between ₹8 crore to ₹10 crore for a single weekend episode. This season could potentially be the longest in the show’s history, running for around five months, although this has not yet been officially confirmed.
As per reports, Salman Khan will host the show for the first three months, after which Farah Khan, Karan Johar, and Anil Kapoor may take over as hosts for the remaining two months. Based on these figures, Salman Khan is expected to earn between ₹120 crore to ₹150 crore for his three-month stint.
In comparison, the Indian Prime Minister’s monthly salary is ₹166,000, which amounts to nearly ₹2 million annually. This means Salman Khan will earn approximately 600 times more than the Indian Prime Minister’s yearly salary — in just three months.
