Ahead of the Asia Cup 2025, the Indian Cricket Board is facing a major challenge as team selection has become a significant concern. According to Indian media reports, the board’s selectors and management have begun consultations to finalize the squad, with the announcement expected on either August 19 or 20.
Reports suggest that before the official team announcement, the board had decided to obtain detailed fitness reports for all players to avoid any injury-related setbacks. Likely, Yashasvi Jaiswal, Sai Sudharsan, and KL Rahul will not be considered for selection in this edition of the Asia Cup.
Meanwhile, Abhishek Sharma and Sanju Samson are almost certain to be included in the squad, while no final decision has been made regarding Shubman Gill. Fast bowler Jasprit Bumrah’s inclusion will depend on his fitness. The availability of consistent top-order performers has further complicated the selection process for the board.
The Asia Cup is scheduled to begin on September 9 in the United Arab Emirates, with India, Pakistan, Oman, and the UAE placed in Group A.
