Islamabad (IPS): Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Mohammad Ishaq Dar has arrived in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to participate in the 21st Extraordinary Session of the Council of Foreign Ministers (CFM) of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), being held today at the OIC Secretariat in Jeddah.
According to the Foreign Office, Dar was received at King Abdulaziz International Airport by Pakistan’s Permanent Representative to the OIC, Ambassador Fawad Sher, Pakistan’s Ambassador to Saudi Arabia, Ahmed Farooq, and Consul General in Jeddah, Khalid Majid.
The extraordinary session will bring together foreign ministers and senior officials of OIC member states to deliberate on a coordinated response to the ongoing situation in Palestine. The meeting will focus on Israel’s continuing military aggression, proposed plans for full military control over Gaza, and the persistent violations of Palestinian rights.
Pakistan, which has always stood firmly with the Palestinian people, will reiterate its principled stance at the meeting. Foreign Minister Dar will call for Israel’s complete withdrawal from all occupied territories, strongly oppose any plans for military control over Gaza, and emphasize the urgent need for uninterrupted humanitarian assistance.
He will also underline the restoration of the legitimate rights of the Palestinian people, including the establishment of an independent and sovereign Palestinian state based on pre-1967 borders, with Al-Quds Al-Sharif as its capital.
On the sidelines of the OIC session, Dar is also expected to hold bilateral meetings with foreign ministers of key member states to discuss regional developments and avenues of cooperation.
