The Pakistan Ulema Council has announced that a Day of Gratitude and Prayers will be observed nationwide today following the conclusion of the strategic defense agreement between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia. In a joint statement, Council Chairman Hafiz Muhammad Tahir Mehmood Ashrafi, Allama Abdul Haq Mujahid, Maulana Nouman Hashir, and other religious leaders expressed that it was by the grace of Allah Almighty that the visionary leadership of both nations was able to bring this historic pact to fruition.
The leaders stated that it is a great honor for Pakistan to be entrusted with the responsibility of safeguarding the holy lands of Islam. They noted that this sacred territory, which includes the birthplace of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), Masjid-e-Nabawi, the Prophet’s blessed resting place, and the Holy Kaaba, holds unparalleled significance for the entire Muslim Ummah. They emphasized that it is a duty upon every Pakistani to offer thanks to Allah and pray for the strength to fulfill this responsibility with sincerity and devotion.
The statement further highlighted that Pakistan’s achievement was made possible through the leadership of Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif and the successful military expertise and strategic foresight of Field Marshal General Syed Hafiz Asim Munir. They expressed gratitude to Allah Almighty for granting Pakistan this historic role, while praying that the agreement strengthens bilateral ties, promotes unity among the Muslim Ummah, and ensures peace in the region.
The Pakistan Ulema Council announced that today, on the occasion of Jumu’ah, religious scholars, clerics, and prayer leaders across the country will observe the Day of Gratitude and Prayers, allowing the nation to collectively express its thanks and renew its commitment to this noble cause.
