Jamaat-e-Islami has announced a series of sit-ins across Karachi today to protest against the alarming rise in fatalities caused by heavy traffic accidents, the ongoing issues linked with the e-challan system, and what the party terms as the government’s indifferent approach toward public grievances.
According to the party’s official statement, simultaneous protest sit-ins will be organized at major roads, key intersections, and prominent public locations across the city starting at 5 PM, aiming to exert effective pressure on the authorities to address the concerns of citizens.
The statement further noted that Jamaat-e-Islami Karachi Ameer, Munim Zafar Khan, will address the main gathering at Noorani Kebab House Chowrangi on Shahrah-e-Quaideen, where a significant turnout of workers and citizens is expected.
Other locations for the sit-ins include Stargate Shahrah-e-Faisal, MA Jinnah Road, University Road, Dawood Chowrangi, Korangi Crossing, Tibet Centre, Meteorological Chowrangi, Power House Chowrangi, Hub River Road, Paracha Chowk Shershah, Hyderi North Nazimabad, Liaquatabad No. 10, Sohrab Goth, and Orangi Town No. 5, where the demonstrations will be held simultaneously.
It is worth mentioning that a few days earlier, Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Ameer Hafiz Naeemur Rehman had announced the launch of a protest movement against the current system, marking today’s demonstrations as the first major phase of that campaign in Karachi.
