Prime Minister’s Adviser Rana Sanaullah has said that if trust-building measures and dialogue are established among the country’s five key political figures, the overall situation could move in a positive direction.
Speaking during a television program,Rana Sanaullah said that just as positive economic developments were seen in 2025, there is hope that 2026 will prove to be a year of further economic stability for the country.
He said that social media accounts used to run campaigns against state institutions should be shut down, adding that the leadership of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf cannot absolve itself by claiming it has no control or connection with such accounts.
Rana Sanaullah stated that PTI leadership should clearly disassociate itself from these accounts and ensure their closure. He added that if these accounts are meant only for propaganda, it should be limited to rival political parties and politicians rather than targeting state institutions.
He further said that PTI’s call for action on February 8 would fail, adding that the party would not be able to paralyze the system and would suffer further political losses as a result.
Warning against any attempt to shut down the system, Rana Sanaullah said that if such an effort is made on February 8, strict action will follow, after which those involved will again raise complaints. He urged PTI to withdraw its protest call.
He reiterated that meaningful steps are needed to build trust and establish communication among the country’s five key figures, stressing that without such engagement, improvement in the situation is not possible.
Rana Sanaullah said that these five figures include Nawaz Sharif, Shehbaz Sharif, Asif Ali Zardari, PTI founder Imran Khan, and one other influential personality. He added that without trust-building measures among them, no breakthrough can be achieved, and contacts at lower levels will not be sufficient.
