The West Indies cricket team has arrived in India to participate in the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2026, where they are set to begin their campaign in Group C. The West Indies have been placed in a competitive group alongside England, Scotland, Nepal, and Italy.
West Indies will open their T20 World Cup campaign on February 7 with a match against Scotland, followed by their second group fixture against England on February 11. The team will then face Nepal on February 15, while their final group-stage match is scheduled against Italy on February 19.
Team officials stated that the squad has arrived well-prepared and is focused on delivering strong performances throughout the tournament. The group-stage matches are expected to be highly competitive, with several teams aiming for qualification to the next round.
It is worth noting that Bangladesh was initially included in Group C, with its first three matches scheduled for February 7, 9, and 14 in Kolkata, and the final match planned for February 17 in Mumbai. However, on January 4, the Bangladesh Cricket Board informed the ICC, after consultations with the government, that the team would not travel to India due to security concerns.
Following a board meeting, the ICC rejected Bangladesh’s security concerns and warned that the team could be replaced if it maintained its position. Subsequently, on January 24, the ICC made a significant decision by replacing Bangladesh with Scotland in the T20 World Cup 2026.
