12 people have died tragically during the distribution of ration in the Site Area of Karachi due to the negligence of the factory administration. According to the police, the factory administration did not follow the rules and regulations.
The incident took place yesterday during the distribution of ration in a fake factory located in the Nurs Chorangi area of Site Area. During the chaos, 12 people, including three children and eight women, lost their lives, and several people also fainted. The factory administration was responsible for the distribution of Zakat and had informed the local administration about it.
The case has been registered against nine individuals, including the factory owner and administration, at the Site A police station. According to Dr. Hafeez, an investigation officer of the Special Investigative Unit, eight nominated individuals have been arrested. The FIR does not mention the carelessness and negligence shown during the distribution of ration and Zakat.
After opening the main gate of the factory, the internal gate was not opened. There is a distance of 70 to 80 feet between both gates, and there is a slope and narrow lane in between them. After opening the factory gate, the weak and children present in the front were pushed, and the water line was also broken during the chaos.
They denied the possibility of deaths due to the presence of electric current in the water, stating that no evidence of electric current was found in the water. This incident occurred due to negligence and carelessness as the factory owners did not take SOPEs (Standard Operating Procedures for Emergencies) into consideration.
DC Kamardi stated that all the deaths occurred due to suffocation, and the factory was sealed.
