Federal Minister for Energy Khurram Dastgir, has stated that the upcoming general elections in Punjab will be affected due to the current crisis. He suggested that a full court should be formed to resolve the crisis and all judges should use their legal and social knowledge to come up with a solution.
Speaking at a news conference in Islamabad, Khurram Dastgir said that during Imran Khan’s tenure, the opposition was targeted with vengeance, and they want the 2023 elections to be transparent and free of interference, where everyone gets an equal opportunity.
Khurram Dastgir said that in the 2018 elections, PTI came to power through rigging, and after the 2018 elections, PML-N was targeted, while a conspiracy was hatched to create a rift between PML-N and PTI.
He further added that the upcoming general elections in Punjab, which is the province with 55% of the country’s population, will be affected, and small provinces have reservations over the Punjab elections.
The Federal Minister for Energy also said that a joint decision was made in the parliamentary meeting to hold elections together. According to the population census, new constituencies will be formed, and then elections will be held. In our opinion, the Supreme Court’s decision of 4-3 is significant.
