Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif will attend a swearing-in ceremony in Ankara on June 3 upon the invitation of President Recep Tayyip Erdogan of Turkey.
According to an official statement issued by the Foreign Office of Pakistan, the visit of Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif will contribute to the restoration of close and fraternal relations between Pakistan and Turkey.
Prime Minister Shahbaz Sharif will extend congratulations to President Recep Tayyip Erdogan on his election as the President of Turkey in the recent elections held on May 28, on behalf of the government and people of Pakistan.
To further enhance the diverse and multifaceted bilateral cooperation between Pakistan and Turkey, the Prime Minister will also extend an invitation to the Turkish President to participate in a high-level Strategic Cooperation Council meeting in Islamabad.
The statement highlights that Pakistan and Turkey share deep-rooted common beliefs, culture, and history, and their relations have strengthened with mutual trust and coordination on regional and global issues.
The frequent exchanges at the leadership level are an important aspect of the strong bonds of friendship between both countries.
It should be noted that the opposition in Turkey had suffered a setback in the elections held on May 28, as President Recep Tayyip Erdogan easily achieved success in the historic runoff election, extending his rule until 2028.
