The second day’s play began with contributions from Abdullah Shafique and Babar Azam for Pakistan, but before the rain, Pakistan managed to close the gap of 21 runs from Sri Lanka’s total. At this point, Pakistan holds a lead of 12 runs against the host team.

Sri Lanka’s first innings
The previous day, Sri Lanka’s captain, Dimuth Karunaratne, had won the toss and elected to bat first, which proved to be a beneficial decision. However, the entire Lankan team collapsed for 166 runs.
Sri Lanka’s Dhananjaya De Silva and Dinesh Chandimal scored 57 runs and 34 runs, while Pakistan’s Abrar Ahmed dismissed 4 and Naseem Shah dismissed 3 players, one wicket went to Shaheen Afridi and two players were run out by Shan Masood.
It’s worth noting that in the two-match Test series, Pakistan has already taken a lead of one-nil. In the first Test played in Galle, Pakistan had defeated Sri Lanka by 4 wickets.
