Islamabad: After 46 years, the People’s Party has been deprived of the sword electoral symbol. Under the leadership of Member Nisar Durrani, a four-member commission heard the requests to reverse the electoral symbols of political parties.
The Election Commission reversed the electoral symbols of 23 political parties, awarding the People’s Party the sword symbol after 46 years, while recommending the Crane symbol for the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI).
The commission stayed the decision on the request of IPP and All Pakistan Muslim League, while the four-member committee said that IPP had asked for the Eagle symbol, which is owned by All Pakistan Muslim League.
During the hearing, the member of the Election Commission said that the IPP placed the bird symbol on the third place in the priority list, take the bird symbol, it is also a bird like the Eagle.
In addition to this, the Election Commission directed the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaniyat (PTI) to submit relevant documents, rejecting the request of the Pakistan People’s Party as its registration is currently sub judice.
The Election Commission gave a book to Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam, a cup to People’s Muslim League, a ring to Jamiat-e-Islam,Bucket to Kisan Etihad and moon to Hazari Democratic Party while Pakistan Awami League suggested hockey as election symbol.
Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaniyat was given the Knife symbol, Pakistan Aman Tehreek was assigned the Missile symbol, Tehreek-e-Tahafuz Pakistan received the Pistol symbol, Pakistan Peoples Party (Bhutto Shaheed) was allotted the Victory symbol, Jamaat-e-Islami (Ideological) was granted the Pen symbol, the Modern People’s Party was given the Helmet symbol, and Tehreek-e-Awam Pakistan was deprived of the Telephone symbol.
