Islamabad: The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has decided to delay its delegation’s visit to Pakistan after the formation of the new government.
According to sources, the IMF delegation is not serious about negotiating for the final installment with the caretaker government, so the delegation will come to Pakistan after the formation of the elected government.
As per the schedule, the IMF delegation will visit Islamabad in March to assess the third review of the ongoing program.
Sources revealed that discussions with the newly elected government will only take place for the final installment of the $3 billion loan program, as $1.1 billion is to be received in the final installment under the current loan program.
Sources further stated that discussions with the IMF may take place in the last week of February or the first week of March with the newly elected government.
