Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi has ordered to accelerate crackdown on electricity theft and overbilling to effectively curb the menace.
Under the supervision of Mohsin Naqvi, a meeting was held at the FIA Lahore Zone office, where a review of actions taken against power theft and electricity thieves was conducted.
Federal Interior Minister reviewed the directives issued during the previous session, while FIA Lahore Director Sarfraz Work briefed the attendees.
Mohsin Naqvi directed that impartial action should be taken against officers burdening civilians through overbilling. The zero-tolerance policy on overbilling will continue.
He emphasized that the punishment for negligence and incompetence of discos (electricity distribution companies) is not acceptable to the citizens, and providing relief to electricity consumers is a priority.
The Interior Minister ordered continued action against electricity thieves, stating that indiscriminate action should also be taken against government officials involved in electricity theft.
