Mini Urdu Haiku Mushaira Organized By Pakistan Japan Cultural Association Held At Arts Council Of Paksitan Karachi, District Central
On the evening of Tuesday, May 21, 2024, a Mini Urdu Haiku Mushaira was held under the auspices of the Consulate General of Japan in Karachi, in collaboration with the Pakistan Japan Cultural Association (PJCA) Sindh and the Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi, District Central. The event commenced with the blessed name of Allah. The recitation of the Holy Quran was performed by Dr. Khalid Mahmood, Chairman of the local Union Council. The Mushaira was presided over by the renowned Educationist, poet, writer, researcher, and critic, Professor Sahar Ansari, while Syed Meraj Jami was the guest of honor. The event was hosted by Ms. Wazahat Naseem, who is herself a well-known poet and a teacher of the Japanese language.
In his pre-event speech, Mr. Saleem Ahmed, General Secretary of PJCA Sindh, stated that the purpose of organizing the Haiku Mushaira at the Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi, District Central, was to introduce the Haiku genre of poetry to the enthusiasts living in the vicinity of the District Central.
Mr. Saleem also reiterated that PJCA Sindh, in collaboration with the Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi, will continue to organize Haiku Mushaira for the literature enthusiasts living in District central in the future as well. Representing the Consulate General of Japan in Karachi and PJCA Sindh, Saleem Ahmed thanked the management of the Arts Council, the president of the Mushaira, Professor Sahar Ansari, guest of honor Syed Meraj Jami, and all the attendees for their participation and for making the event a success.
It is noteworthy that this was the first time that a Haiku Mushaira was held at the Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi, District Central, since its establishment. The coordinators of the Arts Council of Pakistan Karachi, District Central, Saiyed Roomi Shamail and Mr. Shahid Mohiuddin, also addressed the audience on behalf of the Arts Council.
The poets who participated in the Mushaira included Shah Fahad, Farooq Ahmed Zakir, Zahid Hussain Khan, Shazia Alam Shazi, Hameeda Kashish, Afroz Rizvi, Syed Anwar Javed Hashmi, Shahzad Niaz, Safdar Ali Insha, and Yasir Chughtai.
The host, Ms. Wazahat Naseem, presented her Haikus at the beginning of the Mushaira. Before the conclusion of the event, guest of honor Syed Meraj Jami and president of the Mushaira Professor Sahar Ansari delighted the audience with their Haiku poetry. The Mushaira concluded with a presidential speech by Professor Sahar Ansari.
