National cricket team captain Babar Azam has stated that his sole objective is to win the World Cup. Speaking to the media, Babar Azam expressed confidence in his team’s ability to play good cricket and trust in the fast bowling department, as the fast bowlers are performing well.
He said, “We will try not to repeat the mistakes we made earlier. Our World Cup campaign has begun, and now all senior players need to step up and take responsibility.”
Babar Azam reiterated his goal of winning the World Cup, emphasizing that individual goals come later. He stressed the importance of performing well in the World Cup and achieving success.
He noted that high-scoring matches are not visible here, mentioning the experience of Shadab Khan, Imad Wasim, and Haris. The team captain stated that no one’s batting position is fixed, as it can change depending on the situation.
Regarding Saheem Ayub’s performance, he expressed disappointment, mentioning Saheem as a game-changer but who couldn’t deliver when needed.
Babar Azam expressed confidence in Shadab Khan’s performance in different conditions, stating that he has the most trust in him among all players.
He said that Shadab Khan contributes effectively in all three departments of the game, hoping that the conditions here would be suitable for him.
Babar Azam mentioned utilizing the available facilities for practice, with players training at Better Ends and bowlers practicing in the field.
When asked about the distance from the hotel or facilities, the national team captain said they are not concerned about it, as it’s the board’s responsibility. He mentioned playing in such conditions in the past and stated that since cricket is being played for the first time in America, they are not worried about such issues.
