During Muharram-ul-Haram, the Punjab government has ordered restrictions on social media.
The Punjab Home Department has issued instructions to impose a ban on social media in the province during Muharram-ul-Haram, for which a letter has been sent to the Federal Secretary of Interior.
It has been recommended in the letter that in light of decisions by the Cabinet Committee on Law and Order, social media platforms in Punjab should be suspended from the 6th to the 11th of Muharram-ul-Haram. The directive includes services such as Facebook, WhatsApp, Instagram, YouTube, Twitter, and TikTok.
The Punjab Home Department has informed the Chairman PTI, IG Punjab, Additional IGs Special Branch, and DCs in this regard. According to sources, the final decision on the social media ban will be made by the federal government.
