The Meteorological Department has forecast widespread thunderstorms accompanied by heavy rain across various cities of the country.
According to the department, today, Kashmir, northeastern/central Punjab, Pothohar region, and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa will experience frequent intervals of rain with strong winds and thunderstorms.
Expect isolated cloudbursts at some locations during the afternoon, while Islamabad, northeastern Balochistan, Gilgit-Baltistan, and southern Punjab may witness showers with gusty winds and lightning in some areas afternoon.
Further rain with heavy downpours and occasional cloudbursts is predicted in Rawalpindi, Jhelum, Chakwal, Attock, Mandi Bahauddin, Gujrat, Gujranwala, Narowal, Sialkot, Lahore, Kasur, Okara, Sheikhupura, Hafizabad, Faisalabad, Jhang, Toba Tek Singh, Sahiwal, Sargodha, and Khushab.
In Punjab, some places are also likely to experience cloudbursts, while Mianwali, Bhakkar, Layyah, Tonsa, Rajanpur, DG Khan, Multan, Khanewal, Pakpattan, Bahawalnagar, and Bahawalpur might see thunderstorms and lightning in some areas during the evening/night.
In Balochistan, most districts will remain warm and humid, but there is a possibility of rain with thunderstorms and lightning in Quetta, Ziarat, Pishin, Qila Abdullah, Qila Saifullah, Zhob, Barkhan, Kohlu, Sherani, Musa Khel, and Khuzdar during the evening/night.
Most parts of Sindh will remain warm and humid, but Sukkur, Larkana, Jacobabad, Dadu, and surrounding areas could experience thunderstorms and lightning in some places.
Kashmir is expected to receive rain with thunderstorms and occasional cloudbursts, while Gilgit-Baltistan might see rain with thunderstorms and lightning in some areas.
The Meteorological Department has issued a warning stating that from July 5 to 7, Islamabad, Rawalpindi, Murree, Gilgit, Mansehra, Kohistan, Abbottabad, Dir, Swat, Kashmir, northeastern Balochistan, and Dera Ghazi Khan’s hilly streams could face flash floods and inundation.
There is also concern over urban flooding in Lahore, Sialkot, Gujranwala, Narowal, Rawalpindi, Faisalabad, and Peshawar. The heavy rains could also trigger landslides in the mountainous regions of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Murree, Gilgit-Baltistan, Kashmir, and Gilgit.
