Beijing: China has shaken the artificial intelligence industry by introducing DeepSeek, a ChatGPT alternative, which has outperformed OpenAI’s chatbot.
According to foreign media reports, the rapid rise of the Chinese AI platform DeepSeek has led to a historic decline in the market capitalization of U.S. tech giant NVIDIA. The company’s stocks have plummeted by a record 17%, resulting in a staggering loss of over $593 billion.
DeepSeek, developed in China, has surpassed ChatGPT and similar AI applications to become the top-rated free app on Apple’s App Store in the U.S., UK, and China.
Challenging the dominance of American AI firms like OpenAI, DeepSeek has been gaining massive popularity since its launch in January this year. Its rapid rise has called into question the long-standing belief that the U.S. is the undisputed leader in the AI industry.
In the U.S., DeepSeek’s latest model, R1, has garnered significant attention, overtaking ChatGPT in popularity. iPhone users in the U.S. are now opting for DeepSeek over ChatGPT, marking a major shift in AI preference.
This AI model delivers superior results compared to other artificial intelligence platforms, particularly excelling in solving mathematical problems where it has outperformed ChatGPT.
