Microsoft founder Bill Gates has warned that artificial intelligence (AI) will rapidly impact both white-collar and blue-collar jobs over the next four to five years, while governments around the world remain largely unprepared for this major transformation.
Speaking to the media on the sidelines of the World Economic Forum in Davos, Bill Gates said that the expansion of AI would have profound and far-reaching effects on employment, recruitment processes, and economic equality. He noted that although the impact of AI has so far been limited, this situation is unlikely to persist for long.
According to Gates, governments must urgently decide whether to focus on reskilling people, reforming tax systems, or introducing new measures to address growing inequality.
He further stated that AI is significantly increasing productivity in software development, while low-skilled jobs in sectors such as logistics and call centers are gradually disappearing, raising concerns about widening economic disparities.
Bill Gates emphasized that a coordinated global policy approach and international cooperation are essential to effectively address the challenges posed by AI and its growing influence on white- and blue-collar employment.
