In Group A of the Champions Trophy, Pakistan Shaheens secured a dominant 144-run victory over Afghanistan, a strong semifinal contender.
On Friday, the first warm-up match for the ICC Champions Trophy was played at Gaddafi Stadium, Lahore, where all-rounder Shadab Khan led the Pakistan Shaheens.
Batting first, Pakistan Shaheens posted a formidable total of 314/8 in 50 overs. Hussain Talat scored 70, while Mohsin and Irfan contributed 61 and 57 runs, respectively.
In response, Afghanistan’s batting lineup collapsed, getting bowled out for just 170 runs in 38.4 overs. Shaheens’ captain Shadab Khan shined with the ball, taking 3 wickets for 29 runs.
Pakistan Shaheens will now face South Africa on February 17 at Karachi’s National Stadium.
