Islamabad: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Barrister Gohar has stated that despite a full year passing since conducting intra-party elections, PTI has yet to receive its certification. He criticized the Election Commission for failing to fulfill its constitutional responsibility.
Speaking to the media outside the Election Commission in Islamabad, Barrister Gohar mentioned that the commission has also withheld the decision regarding reserved seats.
He further stated that the Election Commission appears unable to fulfill its constitutional duties, emphasizing that PTI has the right to reserved seats. He added that other parties that conducted intra-party elections after PTI have already received their certificates, but PTI remains uncertified. He also pointed out that the Supreme Court had ruled in PTI’s favor regarding the reserved seats.
Notably, on February 10, Barrister Gohar admitted that PTI’s communication with the establishment had ceased, stating that only one contact had taken place. He suggested that a political solution should have been found through careful and wise decision-making.
Speaking to the media outside Adiala Jail, Barrister Gohar remarked that PTI founder was pleased with the Swabi rally, highlighting that for the first time since the February 8 elections, such a large crowd had gathered. He reaffirmed that PTI would never forget its mandate.
Barrister Gohar described the Swabi rally as the largest in history, stating that votes and mandates are the foundation of democracy. When asked by a journalist about a letter reportedly sent by Imran Khan to the Army Chief, he confirmed that only one contact had been made with the establishment, with no further communication afterward.
