Islamabad: Secretary-General of Awaam Pakistan Party and former Finance Minister Miftah Ismail has stated that 105 million Pakistanis are living below the poverty line.
Speaking in a news program, Miftah Ismail highlighted that over the past three years, Pakistanis have been getting poorer, with rising prices and stagnant wages.
He claimed that 105 million people in the country are below the poverty line, questioning what the government is celebrating. He emphasized that the IMF program should continue, but the government has not implemented any meaningful reforms.
The Awaam Pakistan Party chief further criticized the heavy tax burden on salaried individuals, stating that the government has increased taxes on everything. He urged the authorities to reduce expenditures and improve the education system.
