The official results of local body elections of Karachi have been announced, PPP is on the first place with eighty-four union committees, while the results of twenty USCs have been withheld, elections have not been held on eleven union committees.
The contest between PPP and Jamaat-e-Islami for the Mayor of Karachi became interesting, after the issuance of the notification by the Election Commission, PPP won 2 seats over Jamaat-e-Islami.
The number of seats of People’s Party and Jamaat-e-Islami has increased to 84 and 82 seats in the House of Municipal Corporation of Karachi.
Elections were held in 235 out of 246 seats in Karachi, of which the Election Commission has issued notification of the success of candidates in 215 local body seats, while the results of 20 seats have not been released due to various reasons.
According to the results released by the Election Commission, Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) has 40 seats in Karachi, Muslim League (N) has 5 seats, JUI has 3 seats while an independent candidate has become a member. The results of 20 seats were withheld, elections could not be held on 11 union committees.
