New Zealand all-rounder Daryl Mitchell has dismissed the claims made by Indian media associating him with controversial remarks, in which it was alleged that the Kiwi cricketer stated he would never return to Pakistan following the suspension of the Pakistan Super League (PSL).
However, Mitchell, who represented Lahore Qalandars in the PSL, clarified, “Both Pakistan and India are close to my heart. It is very difficult to see them in conflict. My sympathies are with those affected by this.”
He further stated, “Both PSL and IPL have played important roles in my career. I thoroughly enjoyed playing in both leagues. I hope peace will prevail soon so that our beloved sport can resume. I look forward to returning to both countries in the future.”
The cricketer’s statement once again exposed the false reporting by Indian media. Even during periods of heightened tensions, prominent Indian news channels had to apologize for incorrect reporting, which brought them public embarrassment.
