Islamabad: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar stated that the National Security Committee has made it clear that any violation of the Indus Waters Treaty by India will be treated as an act of war.
In an interview with foreign media, Dar said that after Pakistan’s effective countermeasures, the United States realized the situation could escalate further. He revealed that on Saturday, US Secretary of State Marco Rubio contacted both the Indian foreign minister and himself, expressing willingness for a ceasefire proposal from India.
According to Ishaq Dar, he gave a clear response that if India refrains from further aggression, Pakistan will also remain peaceful.
Dar further said that India has witnessed firsthand how the Pakistan Air Force effectively responded to Indian air strikes. India realized it had misjudged the situation and suffered significant losses.
He added that following Pakistan’s readiness for a ceasefire, the US assured that Secretary Rubio would reconfirm with India. Talks will only be possible if both sides agree.
In conclusion, the Deputy Prime Minister emphasized that Pakistan seeks regional peace through dialogue but will make no compromise on national security.
