The Government of Punjab has officially announced summer vacations for all educational institutions across the province. Punjab’s Education Minister confirmed that summer holidays in schools will commence from May 28.
In light of the ongoing heatwave, school timings have also been revised. According to the education minister, schools will now operate from 7:30 AM to 11:30 AM.
The minister emphasized that the decision was made keeping in view the health and safety of students, aiming to protect them from the extreme heat. Students have also been advised to maintain the continuity of their studies during the vacation period.
Earlier, the education minister stated that a final decision regarding summer holidays would be made within the next three to four days. At that time, he had mentioned that consultations were ongoing regarding potential changes to the vacation schedule, although June 1 remained the tentative start date.
He also noted that efforts are underway to compensate for learning losses caused by previous school closures during the academic year, stressing that preventing further academic setbacks is a top priority.
The minister clarified that schools across the province are currently functioning as per routine and no immediate closures have been decided. He advised students and parents to strictly follow issued safety guidelines to stay protected from the impact of the heatwave.
