The National Institute of Health has revealed in its latest statement that another polio case has been reported in Pakistan, bringing the total number of cases reported this year to 13.
According to details, the new case has been reported from Union Council Amakhel in Tank district of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, where an 18-month-old girl has tested positive for the poliovirus. With this latest case, the total number of polio cases reported from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa has risen to 7, the highest among all provinces.
As per the National Institute of Health’s data, a total of 13 polio cases have been recorded across Pakistan in 2025, including 7 from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, 4 from Sindh, and one each from Punjab and Gilgit-Baltistan.
The recurring emergence of polio cases has raised serious concerns over the effectiveness of the country’s ongoing anti-polio campaign and public health efforts. Health experts emphasize that the complete eradication of polio requires continuous vaccination, effective awareness campaigns, and equitable access to healthcare facilities across all regions.
