The spokesperson for the Sindh Election Commissioner has released the official schedule for by-elections on 52 vacant local government seats throughout the Sindh province, including Karachi. According to the notification, polling for these seats will be held on September 24.
The spokesperson mentioned that these by-elections will be conducted in several districts, including Shikarpur, Kashmore, Ghotki, and Sukkur. Additionally, elections will also take place in other districts such as Naushahro Feroze, Hyderabad, Jamshoro, and Matiari, as well as in three districts of Karachi — West, Keamari, and East.
As per the announced schedule, the submission of nomination papers will begin on August 21 and will continue until August 23. During this time, candidates will be allowed to submit their applications and required documents.
According to the spokesperson, in Karachi alone, five vacant seats across three districts will undergo by-elections. These include the vice chairman seat in UC-8 of TMC Sohrab Goth, the vice chairman seat in UC-10 of TMC Manghopir, and both chairman and general member seats in UC-1 and UC-7 of TMC Orangi. Furthermore, a by-election will also be held for the vice chairman seat in UC-8 of the Municipal Corporation of Baldia.
