A Rawalpindi court has sentenced Irfan Azim to three separate death penalties along with a fine of Rs. 1 million for the abduction, rape, and brutal murder of a 13-year-old boy. The harrowing case, which took place in March 2023 in the Dhameyal area, shocked the community due to its gruesome details.
The verdict was delivered by Additional District and Sessions Judge Afshan Ijaz Sufi, who emphasized in the written judgment that the severity of the crimes left no room for leniency. The convict received the death sentence for murder, another death penalty along with a fine of Rs. 500,000 for rape, and a third death sentence with an additional fine of Rs. 500,000 for abduction.
Court documents reveal that the convict abducted the boy, subjected him to sexual assault, and then murdered him by repeatedly stabbing him with a knife. Investigators gathered conclusive evidence, and the prosecution pursued the case effectively, ensuring that the charges were proven beyond doubt.
In her judgment, Judge Sufi noted that the nature of the crime was exceptionally heinous and warranted the harshest punishment available under the law. She ordered that the convict be hanged until death, stressing that such an exemplary sentence is vital both to deliver justice to the victim’s family and to deter others from committing such atrocious crimes.
