Deadly road accidents continue to plague Karachi. On Tuesday morning, a speeding dumper rammed into a motorcycle near Dar Muhammad Goth in the Memon Goth area, killing one man on the spot and leaving another critically injured.
Police confirmed that the deceased was identified as 25-year-old Shah Nawaz, son of Mola Bakhsh, while the injured was identified as Shah Noor, son of Gulab. Both were residents. The injured and the body of the deceased were shifted to Jinnah Hospital via Chhipa ambulance.
Following the incident, enraged residents staged a protest by blocking Memon Goth Road with barricades, disrupting traffic. Police arrived at the scene and restored traffic flow after holding negotiations with the protesters.
Law enforcement officials said the dumper involved in the crash was seized and its driver, identified as Umar, was taken into custody. Legal proceedings against the driver are underway.
Meanwhile, another tragic accident occurred in the Nazimabad area. Near the No. 4 Fire Station, a young motorcyclist performing one-wheeling stunts crashed into a parked vehicle. The rider sustained severe injuries and was rushed to Abbasi Shaheed Hospital, where he succumbed to his wounds after battling for life for several hours.
According to police, the identity of the deceased could not be immediately confirmed, but initial information suggested that he was a resident of Orangi Town. Efforts are being made to trace his family.
