The Traffic DSP in Karachi has issued a strict warning regarding the use of seat belts, stating that enforcement of traffic safety regulations will now be carried out with increased vigilance.
During an interaction, he clarified that wearing a seat belt is now mandatory not only for the driver but also for the front-seat passenger, and failure to comply will result in an immediate traffic fine.
He further stated that if a driver commits a second traffic violation, authorities will also recover the fine that had been recorded but not charged during the first offence. According to the DSP, this measure has become essential to ensure motorists take traffic laws seriously and that road safety standards are significantly improved.
He also expressed concern over the lack of complete data for vehicles registered in other provinces, which complicates enforcement. The DSP highlighted that complaints of fake number plates being used on vehicles are increasing, and stricter monitoring has been initiated to curb this violation.
