London: The England cricket team suffered another setback as fast bowler Gus Atkinson has been ruled out of the Ashes series after sustaining an injury.
According to the England and Wales Cricket Board, Gus Atkinson suffered a left hamstring injury. He left the field after completing five overs during Australia’s second innings at the Melbourne Cricket Ground.
It is worth noting that England secured victory in the fourth Test of the Ashes series played at the Melbourne Cricket Ground, but injury concerns continue to trouble the side.
The England and Wales Cricket Board said that England will not call up a replacement for Gus Atkinson for the fifth Test. The fifth and final test of the Ashes series will begin on January 4 in Sydney.
Australia currently leads the five-match Test series 3-1. Before Atkinson, fast bowlers Mark Wood and Jofra Archer were also ruled out of the Ashes series due to injuries.
