The Board of Control for Cricket in India has reportedly begun planning to remove Gautam Gambhir from the coaching role of the red-ball team, triggering widespread discussion within Indian cricket circles.
According to Indian media reports, Gautam Gambhir may be relieved of his duties as Test team coach, while the Indian cricket board has initiated preliminary discussions with VVS Laxman regarding the red-ball coaching role.
The reports suggest that due to the Test team’s underwhelming performances in recent matches, conversations have started around changing the coaching setup, with VVS Laxman emerging as a strong candidate to take over red-ball coaching responsibilities.
However, BCCI Vice President Rajeev Shukla has dismissed these reports as mere speculation, stating that no discussion has taken place within the board regarding the removal of Gautam Gambhir.
Rajeev Shukla added that there are no talks about appointing any other coach at this stage and emphasized that such rumors should not be amplified without credible confirmation.
