Islamabad: Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has strongly condemned the targeting of Russian President Vladimir Putin’s residence while also expressing solidarity with the Russian government and people during this difficult time.
In his statement, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that targeting the residence of the Russian president is a deeply alarming act, particularly at a time when serious diplomatic efforts are underway to promote peace and stability at the regional and global levels.
He said that such heinous attacks pose a serious threat to peace and stability, adding that Pakistan rejects all forms of violence that endanger security and undermine ongoing efforts aimed at achieving lasting peace.
It is worth noting that Russia has claimed that Ukraine attacked President Putin’s official residence in the Novgorod region, describing it as an act of state terrorism, following which Russian authorities decided to respond to the attack and reassess the continuation of peace talks.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said that 91 long-range drones were launched toward President Putin’s residence, all of which were intercepted and shot down by Russian air defense systems, while stressing that a response to the attack would be inevitable.
In addition, the Russian president also held a telephone conversation with US President Donald Trump, during which he conveyed Russia’s intention to continue working with the United States for peace, while informing him about a review of the ongoing peace negotiations.
