Renowned Bollywood actor Emraan Hashmi has said that his entire world was turned upside down when his son was diagnosed with cancer, describing it as one of the most painful phases of his life. He said the experience left a deep emotional impact on him and changed his outlook on life.
Amid news of the success of his recent television series “Taskary,” an old interview of the 46-year-old actor has resurfaced, in which he recalled 2014 as the most difficult and heartbreaking year of his life. It was during that year that his son Ayaan Hashmi was diagnosed with cancer, altering the course of his life entirely.
In the interview, Emraan Hashmi said that the incident shifted his focus away from his career and towards his responsibilities as a father, as his son’s health and well-being became his top priority at the time.
Speaking to YouTuber Ranveer Allahbadia, Emraan Hashmi shared that the most challenging phase of his life began when his son fell seriously ill in 2014. He said he struggled to find words to describe how emotionally overwhelming that period was.
The actor said the ordeal lasted for nearly five years and that his life changed completely within a single afternoon. Recalling the moment when the first signs appeared, Emraan Hashmi said that on January 13, he and his family had gone out for a meal and were having pizza together when his son told him that there was blood in his urine.
He further said that within the next three hours, they were at a doctor’s clinic, where they were informed that their son had cancer and would need surgery the very next day, followed by chemotherapy. Emraan Hashmi said that within just 12 hours, his entire world had been turned upside down.
