Former Prime Minister and Chairman of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Imran Khan, has said that delays in holding elections will not be tolerated due to government’s malicious intentions, and if there is any violation of the Supreme Court’s order to hold elections in Punjab on May 14th, the party will take to the streets.
Speaking at a rally held on the occasion of International Labour Day, Imran Khan said that if the government dissolves the assemblies before May 14th, then the party is ready for a nationwide election together only for the reason that the Chief Justice is directing us to do so.
The former prime minister said that if they are using the excuse of presenting a budget before holding the election, and they think that we will fall for their evil plan and wait until September for the election, then they are mistaken.
He said that if the assemblies are not dissolved before May 14th, then we will tell the Supreme Court that we want elections in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, as the constitution states that elections must be held within 90 days. This is our constitutional right.
The Chairman of the PTI said that if they do not agree to this, and if they do not accept the Supreme Court’s decision due to the fear of losing the election, they will go against the Supreme Court and its judges. If the constitution is violated, then the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf will take to the streets along with the Supreme Court, the Chief Justice, and the judges.
