National cricket team’s batsman Saud Shakeel left behind big names by scoring a double century against Sri Lanka yesterday.Saud Shakeel became the first Pakistani to score a double century in Sri Lanka.
Saud Shakeel, who scored a double century for Pakistan in the ongoing Galle Test in Sri Lanka, took charge of the faltering Pakistani batting line-up. Pakistan have an 88-run lead at the start of the fourth day while Sri Lanka’s batting continues.
With his double century, Saud Shakeel earned a unique distinction, becoming the first Pakistani cricketer to achieve this feat in Sri Lanka. By scoring 208 runs, he surpassed former cricketer Muhammad Hafeez. Consequently, Saud Shakeel became the first Pakistani to score a double century in Sri Lanka.
In addition to this, Saud Shakeel also became the highest run-scorer for Pakistan in their first 11 Test innings. By scoring a double century against Sri Lanka in the Galle Test, he overtook the previous record holders, Javed Miandad and Abdullah Shafiq.
Javed Miandad had scored 654 runs in his initial 11 innings of his career, while Abdullah Shafiq had scored 720 runs in his first 11 innings.
It should be noted that on the third day of the Test match against Sri Lanka, Saud Shakeel achieved his maiden double century with the help of 19 boundaries on 352 deliveries.
