Federal Interior Minister Rana Sanaullah has stated that if PTI Chairman Imran Khan does not cooperate with the investigation regarding the cypher issue, he can be arrested.
In a tweet, Rana Sanaullah wrote that the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) has summoned the PTI Chairman on July 25 for the investigation into the diplomatic cypher matter.
He said that if Imran Khan does not cooperate with the investigation on this matter, he could be arrested during the non-bailable stage. However, the decision on his accomplices will be made based on the recommendations of the FIA.
The Interior Minister stated that the FIA should also file cases against others who are found to be involved.
It should be noted that the former Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister, Azam Khan, in a statement recorded to the Magistrate yesterday, accused the former Prime Minister Imran Khan of using the cypher of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs for political purposes against the opposition and the establishment.
Azam Khan has also made a serious allegation that Imran Khan took the cypher from him which he lost and later never returned.
After the statement of the former Principal Secretary to the Prime Minister, Rana Sanaullah said that Imran Khan’s arrest in this matter is necessary as he also needs to present the cypher, which was lost according to the former Prime Minister.
He further stated that after the investigation into the American cypher and the statement of the former bureau chief, a case will be pursued against the PTI Chairman under the Secret Act. However, action against Imran Khan under Article 6 will be taken after the legal department’s opinion.
