Senior Minister of Punjab, Maryam Aurangzeb, has officially announced that the production of plastic bags has been banned in Punjab, effective from today.
This announcement came during her address at the International Conference held in Lahore on World Environment Day.
She stated that from today onwards, a ban has been imposed on plastic bags in the first phase across Punjab, and regulating plastic bags is a government policy.
Maryam Aurangzeb further mentioned that amendments will be made to the Motor Vehicle Ordinance, and a crackdown against plastic and tire-burning plants is underway.
During her speech at the International Conference, the Senior Minister of Punjab also emphasized the need to change one’s mindset.
She also stated that consumers need to stop using plastic; if you don’t buy, I won’t buy, leading to a reduction in usage.
