The semi-final lineup of the T20 World Cup is complete. Afghanistan has reached the semi-finals of the T20 World Cup for the first time. Australia and Bangladesh are out of the World Cup.
Afghanistan defeated Bangladesh by 8 runs under the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern method. In the 52nd match of the T20 World Cup, Afghanistan and Bangladesh faced each other in Kingsmead, where Afghanistan won the toss and decided to bat.
Afghanistan scored 115 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in their allotted 20 overs. Rahmanullah Gurbaz top-scored with 43 runs. Ibrahim Zadran scored 18 runs and Hazratullah Zazai made 10 runs.
In response, Bangladesh managed to score 105 runs. Liton Das was prominent with 53 runs. Shakib Al Hasan, Mahmudullah, and Mushfiqur Rahim could not open their account. Rashid Khan excelled in bowling, taking 4 wickets, while Bangladesh’s Shoriful Islam took 3 wickets.
Afghanistan had set a target of 116 runs to win against Bangladesh. Bangladesh needed to achieve the target in 12.1 overs to qualify for the semi-finals. Due to rain at the end of Bangladesh’s innings, the match was briefly halted.
India and Afghanistan qualified from Group 1, while England and South Africa secured their spots in the final form from Group 2.
