A new oil and gas reserve has been discovered in Kohat, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, which is expected to increase the country’s oil and gas reserves significantly.
According to a spokesperson for Oil & Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL), the new find was announced for the Rajghar Exploratory Well No. 1. Drilling of the well commenced on January 9.
The spokesperson stated that drilling reached a depth of 3,774 meters. Initial results indicate that the well has produced 16.4 million MMSCFD of gas per day and 159 barrels of crude oil daily. The statement further highlighted that this new production would usher in a new era of development and prosperity in the region.
It is worth noting that last month, another oil and gas reserve was discovered in the Tull Block of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, from the Raziq-1 well. This well is expected to yield 250 barrels of crude oil and 20 million standard cubic feet of gas daily. Drilling for this well began in January of this year.
